Monday's quote & delight

Hi Friends!!
So, I am starting a new teaching job on valentines day! I am so excited! I have been very busy getting things together and preparing for a wonderfull year ahead!

This past weekend was warm and sunny.
I spoilt myself and made a bowl of cocolate mousse! Well, I really enjoyed it and will probably start shaking off some extra weight when i get up at 7 am every day.
My schedule seems to get busier and busier as the days go by.
I do plan to start volunteerwork once a week at a Pediatric centre, helping disabled and special needs children. This could only be beneficial for them and myself in the long run.
I am still an active volunteer at the animal shelter which I very much enjoy.I encourage you to start volunteering some of your time towards a good cause aswell! It is rewarding.

This week's delight

Hope you have a lovely week ahead!

Monday's Quote & delight

Hi Folks!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Today was so lovely & warm, I have a feeling we might have an early spring .yay!
I have been studying my naturalization test and still waiting to see 'The Naturalized', I heard it's a good movie.
I'm looking forward to the royal wedding coming up in teh next few months - i think's its going to be beautiful,a real fairytale wedding.
Well, Hobo the cat is back..she's made herself home.During the day she keeps herself busy outside hunting for birds, bugs and mice i guess and sure enough around 10pm she jumps in through the office window and we see her white snout peeking under the door. She's so sweet and loveable.
I will post pics of her soon.

Mondays quote & Delight

Well, Hello!
Hope you had a wonderfull weekend.
It's roaring with thunder outside-quite scary i might add. Everytime I experience such weather, it helps me respect nature more.Thunder & lightning is so powerfull and it's amazing to know that no human power can stop it.Incredible.Comes to show how vulnerable we really are. Anyhow,
I spent my weekend trying to housetrain our kitten. He's been using everywhere to potty except his litter box and it's driving us up the wall!!Neither one of us have the heart to give him away.
On a happier note, james made late night cupcakes for my sweet tooth and earlier we enjoyed tasty, fresh home-made spaghetti bolognaise from our dear friends around the corner. I feel so spoilt.

Today's quote:

A small collection of motivational quotes

"Sow an act,and you reap a habit. Sow a habit, and you reap a character.Sow a character, and you reap a destiny."

"All that we see in others-both darkness & light- is also present in ourselves."

"We must use time creatively, and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right!"

At times when you feel hopeless, listen to and draw courage from the inner drum..your heartbeat. Hear the rhythm of purposeful determination- it is the call to life itself!

For the more spiritual readers, here's a self meditation exercise for those seeking change & self reflexion :
Meet yourself
Close your eyes and imagine you are attending a party. A friend comes over and introduces you to yourself. What are your first impressions of this person? Engage yourself in conversation.how does the relationship develop between you? From this neutral perspective consider the strengths and weaknesses that you see in yourself. Use this awareness as a basis of change.

New Years is around the corner! Are you ready for 2011?
I sure am, 2010 was a very good year for me but I'm ready for what the future brings, new adventures, opportunities, change, perhaps travel, & discovery of much more..
Something I have come to value more & more is the People I meet every year, each one so special and uniquely different. One can learn so much from others, regardless of your own experiences, I deeply value the inspiration I get from meeting interresting people.
In this new year I also want to find something I am passionate about..a real hobbie, something I can become good at.. and if I do not find a steady hobby, I wish to study part time. I have a few options in mind, perhaps Occupational Therapist assistant, Or veterinary assistant, Or, Massage & reflexology- whatever it is, it needs to be a short term course..
Being a Gemini, i get painfully bored very quickly and need constant inspiration or something to keep/hold my attention span & interest going. I very much enjoy teaching when I do,  but I thrive for more in whatever I do, I always want more..I'm still trying to figure out if this is being too ambitious or too greedy.
Most of all, I will pace myself and strike a balance. One day at a time with peace of mind.
Desire often gets me down so I acknowledge it, then let it go.
It's important for us to take control of our emotions and not allow it to drive us.
Meditation & yoga helps to balance out the mind, body & soul. I will practice this more often.
For anybody who suffers from anxiety, I would recommend this too.

Ok and I need to promise myself I will drink enough water everyday. Make sure you do too!
This will help flush out toxins & reveal a more radiant skin.

I would love my hair this long

On Thoughts

"Our life depends on the kind of thoughts we nurture. if our thoughts are peaceful, calm, meek, and kind, then that is what our life is like. If our attention is turned to the circumstances in which we live, we are drawn into a whirlpool of thoughts and can have neither peace nor tranquility."

"Everything, both good and evil, comes from our thoughts. Our thoughts become reality. Even today we can see that all of creation, everything that exists on the earth and in the cosmos, is nothing but Divine thought made material in time and space. We humans were created in the image of God. Mankind was given a great gift, but we hardly understand that. God's energy and life is in us, but we do not realize it. Neither do we understand that we greatly influence others with our thoughts. We can be very good or very evil, depending on the kind of thoughts and desires we breed.

If our thoughts are kind, peaceful, and quiet, turned only toward good, then we also influence ourselves and radiate peace all around us  - in our family, in the whole country, everywhere. This is true not only here on earth, but in the cosmos as well. When we labor in the fields of the Lord, we create harmony. Divine harmony, peace, and quiet spread everywhere. However, when we breed negative thoughts, that is a great evil. When there is evil in us, we radiate it among our family members and wherever we go. So you see, we can be very good or very evil. If that's the way it is, it is certainly better to choose good! Destructive thoughts destroy the stillness within, and then we have no peace.

Our starting point is always wrong. Instead of beginning with ourselves, we always want to change others first and ourselves last. If everyone were to begin first with themselves, then there would be peace all around! St. John Chrysostom said that no one can harm the man who does not injure himself - not even the devil. You see, we are the sole architects of our future.

By his thoughts man often disturbs the order of creation. That is how the first people were destroyed - in a flood - because of their evil thoughts and intentions. This is true even today; our thoughts are evil, and therefore we do not bear good fruit. We must change. Each individual must change, but it is unfortunate that we do not have examples to guide us, either in our families or in society."

Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica

words from a wonderful blog thehabitofbeing.com

a few words

"Love, joy, and peace are all Divine gifts, Divine properties. They can work miracles even on their own. Love unites and makes everything whole; peace radiates from a person and exudes silence; and joy takes away the pain of the soul. When a joyous person meets a sorrowful one and speaks a few kind and peaceful words, all of a sudden it is as though the sun has risen for the sad person. Separately, love, peace, and joy work miracles, but united they can rule over all things. When they are united and deeply rooted in a person's heart, wherever that person emits a thought, there is peace, for such a person radiates peace."

"You must strive to have peace in your homes. Peace starts with each one of us. When we have peace in us, we spread it around to others. You can see for yourself that there are very few humble and meek souls on the earth - but also that they are truly blessed. They will not be offended if you insult them in any way. Whatever way you treat them, they are quiet and peaceful and they are truly sorrowed because you are in such spiritual torment."

“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go.”- Dr. Seuss

Eat Pray Love

"Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it. You must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it."

"To find the balance you want, this is what you must become. You must keep your feet grounded so firmly on the earth that it's like you have 4 legs instead of 2. That way, you can stay in the world. But you must stop looking at the world through your head. You must look through your heart, instead. That way, you will know God."

Today's meditation - recharge the mind & spirit

The mind becomes settled when it cultivates friendliness in the face of happiness, compassion in the face of misery, joy in the face of virtue, and indifference in the face of error.

One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything.

I have found spending time in nature to be a deeply healing experience. The air, whether it flows through the trees or soars across the ocean has a cleansing quality as it impacts with my body. The earth grounds my being, while the trees lift my imagination to a higher place. I always leave refreshed, grounded, and uplifted.

Look deep into nature,
and then you will understand everything better.
