Individual Value

I extracted this from a reading..and felt the need to share ..

"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value." - Albert Einstein

True success in life has to do with what we focus on. If we focus on becoming "successful," our human weaknesses may lead us to do things that seem expedient at the time, but, in the long run, may lead to failure, both in results and in character. It is a temptation to step on other people going up the "ladder of success."
However, if our focus is on becoming a person of value, then we will almost surely develop a high quality of character and that will lead to success.
What are the qualities of a person of value?
First, a person of value is reliable and dependable. You know they can be counted on. You know they will keep their word. If they say they will do something, then you know they will.
Second, a person of value usually is one who has worked to develop at least one skill and sometimes many that are useful and they are available to use those skills to help others. A family we know comes to mind, who have raised several sons and taught them many useful, practical skills. This has developed solid character and also success in making a good living using those skills. They are men of character and men of value.
Third, a person of value is others centered. A person focused on just being a "success" is more likely to be self-centered.
The person of value, values others! And, when we know someone values us, we appreciate them and are happy when they become successful.
So, focusing on becoming a person of value means focusing on developing skills that will enable us to be useful in meeting the needs of others and it it means developing character qualities that are worthy of emulation, like dependability, trustworthiness, and caring about others more than ourselves, which is unselfishness.
Well, today is one of those days I feel ignored & unworthy..when I came across this while reading,I stopped and thought about it for a while...I myself am guilty- I mostly focus on what I want to achieve and forget about what's really important in life,to take the focus off myself and start focusing on others for once! I thought this is something that comes with age, maturity, but it's a choice we make and what we focus on. To be a person of value is to become a genuine soul..and in today's society..we all becoem so absorbed in teh demands of our daily lives, that we forget about what's improtant and loose focus on who and what really matters..I understand the needs of family demands and work demands and balancing it out with friends and making time for everything else becomes overwhelming at times..I myself have thought there's not enough time in a day to do everything..but what one needs to focus on is being compassionate in every aspect of life!

New Years is around the corner! Are you ready for 2011?
I sure am, 2010 was a very good year for me but I'm ready for what the future brings, new adventures, opportunities, change, perhaps travel, & discovery of much more..
Something I have come to value more & more is the People I meet every year, each one so special and uniquely different. One can learn so much from others, regardless of your own experiences, I deeply value the inspiration I get from meeting interresting people.
In this new year I also want to find something I am passionate about..a real hobbie, something I can become good at.. and if I do not find a steady hobby, I wish to study part time. I have a few options in mind, perhaps Occupational Therapist assistant, Or veterinary assistant, Or, Massage & reflexology- whatever it is, it needs to be a short term course..
Being a Gemini, i get painfully bored very quickly and need constant inspiration or something to keep/hold my attention span & interest going. I very much enjoy teaching when I do,  but I thrive for more in whatever I do, I always want more..I'm still trying to figure out if this is being too ambitious or too greedy.
Most of all, I will pace myself and strike a balance. One day at a time with peace of mind.
Desire often gets me down so I acknowledge it, then let it go.
It's important for us to take control of our emotions and not allow it to drive us.
Meditation & yoga helps to balance out the mind, body & soul. I will practice this more often.
For anybody who suffers from anxiety, I would recommend this too.

Ok and I need to promise myself I will drink enough water everyday. Make sure you do too!
This will help flush out toxins & reveal a more radiant skin.

I would love my hair this long

This new year I will be working on 'WE' instead of ME'

Lunar eclipse tonight - first in 372 Years - since 1638

I'm so excited about tonight...there will be a lunar Eclipse- the moon will be going in front of the sun, turning red- so it's called a 'blood moon'. I hope it's not too cold outside to see it. shoud be interresting.
I'm enjoying a lovely egg/cheese sandwich for brunch. Last night my wonderfull hubby cooked a shepards pie! definately suits the weather & my taste buds!

Friends, it's 4 days untill christmas! Can you believe it.. well, I actually want to go have a look at all the christmas lights in the park, sometime this week. We will be spending our christmas with our lovely neighbours around the corner. I'm excited. They have become family. Which actually reminds me, I still need to sticth up the dog bed I promised. Our anipals love their beds, i simply use a rectangle cut out of flannel material and stuff it with quilt batting inside and sew it closed. This makes for good winter beds for the dogs. I made smaller sized ones for the cats aswell and they loVe it! I donated my extra beds to the Animal shelter, where I occasionally volunteer at. Everybody deserves to be warm during winter. If you know a friend  or anyone who loves animals & needs companionship- I highly recommend taking them to an animal shelter to adopt a pet. they make for the best pets. I personally have 3 dogs & 4 cats- all resqued & adopted. Each one of them have their own unique personality. I couldn't imagine life without them. They definately complete our family.

anyhow, I'm off to go post my last few Christmas cards,
see ya later,
Lou
